About Judge Larry King
Currently running for the US House of Representatives in Arizona's Fifth Congressional District in 2006.
Larry King was born in Manhattan, New York. He grew up in Westchester County, New York where he attended public schools. The importance of education was stressed by his parents: Lawrence, who attended and graduated from Howard University and the University of Michigan; and Beulah, who attended and graduated from the Lincoln School for Nurses and Columbia University.
Larry King attended Dartmouth College and received his undergraduate degree from Boston University. Larry moved to Arizona in 1982. Larry graduated from the Arizona State University College of Law in 1986. At Arizona State University College of Law, Larry was selected to be a member of the Moot Court Board. Larry worked for Judge Stephen L. Reinhart of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Larry King professionally manages his own public policy consulting company. Larry was appointed as a Judge Pro
Tempore for the Town of Paradise Valley by the Town Council in 2003 and was recently reappointed. In 2004 the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Tribal Council appointed Larry King as a Judge Pro Tempore for the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation Tribal Court. Larry is a member of the Arizona Magistrates Association.
Larry King's leadership potential was recognized in Arizona, when he was selected to be member of Valley Leadership Class XI. Larry was later selected to be on the Board of Directors for Valley Leadership.
A skillful negotiator, a pragmatic bridge builder and past highly successful Chairman of the Southwestern Business Finance Corporation, Larry King strongly believes in the promise of America and aggressively advanced the mandate of the company to make SBA 504 loans to stimulate economic growth and create new jobs and opportunities for Arizona residents in the company's territory during his tenure. He still is actively involved with SBFC as a member of its Executive Committee.
Larry King is also on the Board of Directors of Audubon Arizona and is the Chairman of the Public Policy Committee. Currently, Larry is serving his second term as President of the Phoenix Federal Bureau of Investigation Citizens Academy Foundation Board. He is also Chairman of the Community Outreach Committee for the Phoenix FBICA Foundation Board. Larry was asked to assist in the development of a National FBI Citizens Academy Alumni Association.
Larry King understands the vital role of military bases to the local economies of the State as well as their role in national preparedness. He has been selected as an Honorary Commander of the 56th Aircraft Maintenance Squadron at Luke Air Force Base. Larry is also a member of the Fighter Country Partnership.
Larry resides in Scottsdale, Arizona.
